Description

You will meet the guide at the ticket office of the archaeological site of Herculaneum.

The tour begins with a visit to the small exhibition museum inside the Archaeological Park where you can observe not only everyday objects, jewelery and furniture, but also the wreck of a boat found on the beach.

You cannot miss a visit to the beach of the old city where the remains of the victims of the eruption still lie.

The tour will proceed with visits to some patrician residences such as the Casa dei Cervi, the Casa del Rilievo di Telefo and the Casa del Tramezzo di Legno. You will also visit the ancient public buildings of the Roman era such as the women's and men's baths and also the ancient shops where merchants sold food and wine.

A part of the ancient city still remains unexplored as it lies buried beneath the new city of Herculaneum.

The famous 2000 papyri which are exhibited in the National Library of Naples come from here.

The tour with the guide will last 2 hours, at the end of which you can decide whether to continue exploring the Archaeological Park or leave the excavations.
