Welcome to Anacapri, where our first stop is the splendid Villa Saint Michael  a place steeped in history, art, and nature. Built by the Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe at the end of the 19th century, the villa is located on a site that offers breathtaking views of the Gulf of Naples. Axel Munthe purchased the property in 1895 and transformed the ruins of an ancient chapel dedicated to Saint Michael into a magnificent residence.

The villa is surrounded by lush gardens that host a vast collection of Mediterranean plants and rare exotic species. As you stroll through the gardens, you will encounter a series of Roman statues, columns, and other archaeological artifacts that Munthe collected throughout his life. Every corner of the garden offers panoramic views that span from Mount Vesuvius to the surrounding islands.

Inside the villa, you will find an eclectic collection of artworks, antique furniture, and historical artifacts. One of the most fascinating rooms is the "Loggia of the Roses," where Munthe often sat to write his books, including the famous "The Story of San Michael  ." The villa also houses a chapel with an ancient Roman mosaic floor, which Munthe carefully restored.

A visit to Villa Saint Michael  offers a journey through art, history, and nature, immersed in an environment of unparalleled serenity and beauty. Today, the villa is managed by the Axel Munthe Foundation and continues to be an important cultural and tourist center.
