Pasticceria Poppella

Pasticceria Poppella

The historic Poppella brand was founded in Naples in 1920, combining two names: Papele (Raffaele) and Puppnella (Giuseppina). These were the nicknames of Raffaele Scognamillo and his wife Giuseppina Evangelista, who began their bakery business in the popular Rione Sanità neighborhood during those years. After overcoming the difficult period of the Second World War, the business passed to their son Salvatore in 1960 and then, in 2005, to his son Ciro, representing the third generation of the Poppella family. In 2016, marking another milestone in its history, Poppella opened its second location on Via Santa Brigida, in the tourist heart of Naples, just steps away from Maschio Angioino, Galleria Umberto I and Teatro San Carlo.
